Windows 8 is alive and kicking, with third-party statistics proving that Microsoft’s latest operating system is quickly increasing its market share.
But with so many rumors swirling around and claiming that Windows 8 actually missed internal sales projections because of the hardware industry, OEMs have no other option than to step in and defend their own business.
Jeff Barney, VP and general manager of Toshiba America’s PC and TV business, told Wired that his company actually had some “different” expectations from Windows 8, especially because the new OS comes after the successful Windows 7 and the market currently has many more alternatives.
“We had a little bit different expectations for Windows 8 than previous OS launches. In the past Windows was the only game in town, when it was Windows 7 or Vista it was the big event of the year. These days it’s a different environment,” he said.
