Windows Phone 10 is expected to launch next year

Windows Phone 10 is definitely going to be a pretty significant redesign of Microsoft's mobile platform, and even though nobody knows exactly what the company plans to change about it, many users out there already know what the upcoming OS version should look like.

The design you see here was created by DeviantArt user bisesbimby and imagines a more flattened UI for the home screen, as well as a completely redesigned lock screen.

While the home screen still needs several improvements in order to look better, the lock screen is surely more eye appealing than the existing version, so such an idea might actually be really inspiring for the designing team over at Microsoft.

And still, we've heard some people claiming that it looks too much like iOS, and while it indeed reminds of Apple's very own smartphone platform, there's no doubt that Microsoft can really tweak this design in order not only to make it entirely different, but also to revamp the lock screen using this concept as the foundation.

As for Windows Phone 10, the launch is expected to take place in mid-2015, possibly in late summer or early fall, with some people suggesting that a preview version of the operating system could be released to users in the coming months, maybe as soon as next month, during the January 21 Windows 10 consumer event.
