WinRAR 5.10 beta 1 is now available for download for all users, thus providing users with an early glimpse into the feature lineup of the next stable build of the application.

According to the official release notes provided to us this morning, the new beta build adds extraction support for ZIP and ZIPX archives using BZIP2, LZMA and PPMd compression, as well extraction options for 7z split archives (.7z.001, .7z.002).

What’s more, the default theme images are now scaled up with better quality in high DPI display mode, while environment variables, such as %temp%, can be used in ‘Files to add’ field of archiving dialog, the changelog states.

Although it’s clearly a nice way to try out an upcoming version of WinRAR ahead of the public launch, keep in mind that it’s still a beta build, so a number of bugs might still be experienced, regardless of the platform you are currently using.

The feature lineup remains basically unchanged, which means that you still get powerful compression capabilities, support for a wide array of formats, plenty of security features, and Context Menu integration to easily work with your own archives without the need for accessing the main window of the program.
