If you’re into beta versions of popular software applications out there, you should be excited to hear that WinRAR has just received another preview build that gives you the chance to try out its feature lineup before it hits the market as a stable release.

WinRAR 5.10 Beta 2 comes with important bug fixes, so in case you’re already running the first beta and you’re having problems with it, this is the right moment to update.

According to the official release notes, the new build addresses two important issues.

First of all, “when processing nested archives, WinRAR could attempt to open inner archive as self-extracting instead of opening an outer archive. It happened if inner archive was stored without compression and outer archive name had non-standard extension,” as RAR Labs said. This behavior should no longer occur after updating, developers explained.

Second of all, version 5.10 beta 2 is also introducing a fix for the Linux-based version of the application, simply called RAR, which had problems with decompressing hard links in a number of cases.

As you can see, this build comes with important bug fixes for Windows and Linux, so those running the beta should use the download links below to deploy the latest versions as soon as possible.
