If you're one of the millions of users still using WinRAR, it's worth knowing that the company behind the entire project today rolled out an important update on all supported platform, bringing some bug fixes and optimizations that are supposed to contribute to an enhanced experience with the app.

According to the official release notes, WinRAR 5.10 comes with the exact some improvements as Beta 1, including extraction support for ZIP and ZIPX archives using BZIP2, LZMA and PPMd compression, but also with extraction support for 7z split archives.

At the same time, the new build comes with some UI enhancements, so the “default theme images are scaled up with better quality in high DPI display mode,” the changelog also reads.

“Switch -ai can be used when creating RAR archive, so predefined values, typical for file and folder, are stored instead of actual attributes. Previously this switch could be used only when extracting,” it notes.

As you can see, most of these improvements are made under the hood, so version 5.10 is clearly a recommended update for everyone still running this compression tool on their computers.
