Earlier today, we announced the availability of version 17.5 for WinZIP; however, at that time, the company had not released a list with the changes.

The new update is free for all WinZip 17 customers and includes fresh features as well as improvements touching on cloud sharing and the interface.

Thanks to introducing a new set of options for network administrators, companies can control the file sharing and decide the cloud storage, social media and file sharing services that employees are allowed to use.

On the same note, AES encryption and password protocols can be enforced during the process in order to keep the information safe.

The developer announces that performance has been increased and that WinZip 17.5 can extract ZIP and ZIPX archives up to four times faster.

As far as the features relating to cloud sharing, the new WinZip offers the possibility to check the total amount of free storage space from all supported services (Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, SkyDrive and CloudMe) when you connect to them.

Patrick Nichols, president of WinZip, said that “WinZip 17.5 is a major update that enhances your productivity and gives you even more power to protect your information from prying eyes. New network options enable admins to manage exactly how employees can access, protect and save files to the cloud; while users gain the benefits of a simpler application, faster performance and a better way to keep their files safe.”
