WinZip continues to be one of the leading compression tools on the market, even though there are plenty of other freeware alternatives out there, so updates are essential for plenty of consumers using it.

A new version was rolled out this morning and brings several file sharing improvements that are supposed to make it easier to send the archives you create to your contacts online.

According to the official release notes, WinZIP 18.5 Build 11111 comes with options to zip and share via instant messaging services, including Facebook Messaging, Google Talk/Google+ Hangouts, Yahoo! Messenger and Jabber, but also with options to create ZIP archives and share them via online file-sharing services, such as MediaFire.

As you probably know by now, WinZip offers support for all Windows versions on the market, including the old Windows XP which no longer receives updates and security patches from Microsoft.

The update clearly comes in handy to everyone who relies on sharing capabilities these days, but keep in mind that the full version of the app is priced at $29.95 (21.7 euros) to unlock full features.

Nonetheless, a trial version is available as well, so download WinZip 18.5 right now to give a try to the new sharing options that allow you to quickly send the ZIP archives you create over the Internet to your contacts.
