The app is now available in the Store at absolutely no cost
WinZip for Windows 8, one of the most powerful compression tools for Microsoft’s new operating system, is now available with a freeware license, so those who wish to download it can find the app right now in the Store.WinZip boasts a fully touch-optimized interface and is specifically designed to run in Metro mode, which means that it can get along not only with the x86 and x64 versions of the Windows 8 operating system, but also with Windows RT running on tablets.
The app was officially released in November and was initially available with a price tag of $7.99 (€6.3), while a trial version allowed users to give it a spin before buying it.
The software company behind WinZip is yet to publicly announce this special offer, so we can’t tell for sure how long this is going to last.
