Windows 10 is already in development, and there are rumors that this new OS version could actually merge Microsoft’s modern platforms and unify the stores, thus giving developers the chance to monetize their apps more easily with the universal app concept.

And it appears that devs are indeed more interested in creating Metro apps, as the number of submissions has grown significantly in the last 30 days, with stats showing that there are now more than 183,000 items available for download for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 users.

As you can see in the chart included in the article and provided by MetroStore Scanner, the number of apps available in the store has grown from 163,000 on November 29 to no less than 183,000 this week, which is another indication that there have been quite a lot of apps submitted for approval in the last few days.

Obviously, there’s no doubt that Microsoft has recently approved a large chunk of apps, which pretty much explains this impressive growth, but it’s still a good thing that more developers are looking at Windows 8 apps these days.

Windows 10 should indeed boost devs’ appetite for Metro apps because with the help of universal tools they could appeal to both tablet and phone users with just one solution. Windows 10 should be out in mid-2015, so a lot could change until then, but it appears that things are improving significantly for users and devs running Microsoft’s modern OS.
