As we reported to you yesterday, Windows 10 build 10051 got leaked, and in addition to a few other minor changes, this version also comes with a brand new Mail app for PCs and tablets.

Still called Mail, the new app is expected to be the foundation of the Outlook email client that will debut in the final version of Windows 10 and will be offered free of charge on all devices.

The new Mail app boasts a restyled look that's indeed based on the one from Windows 8 but comes with a more modern approach that makes it easier to use and more appropriate for PCs and tablets.

Users can now swipe left or right on each message to perform a number of tasks, such as deleting emails, and can even configure wallpapers for the applications. Support for new accounts is as rich as in Windows 8.1, so you can configure any POP3 or IMAP mailbox to work with the Mail app.

Since it's a Windows 10 Modern app, you can run it in windowed mode, so it's basically a full-featured email client, just like the ones designed for the desktop.

There's no notification system available right now for new emails, but this feature is very likely to be added when the operating system reaches the final stage of development.
