Users will be able to download Skype much faster

Microsoft is making several changes to Windows 10, and the new operating system will come with pre-installed versions of Solitaire Collection and Candy Crush Saga, but Redmond is also trying to provide quick access to some of its apps.

For instance, Windows 10 build 10135 comes with a new “Get Skype” tool placed on the desktop that allows users to quickly download and install Skype on their computers.

Microsoft hasn’t said anything about this change, but leaked documentation that has reached the web earlier today confirms that the Get Skype app is now pre-installed on the desktop in build 10135 and will most likely remain so in future builds of Windows 10, including the RTM bits.

Skype has become a key app for Microsoft and is now available on the majority of platforms out there, including both desktops, such as Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, but also Android, Windows Phone, and Android mobile operating systems.

What’s more, Skype can be used straight from the Outlook.com inbox thanks to a built-in web-based version that is loaded in the browser, so no additional tools are required, except for a plug-in for video calls. On Windows, Skype is available on both the desktop and the Modern UI, and it remains to be seen which version the Get Skype app is leading people to.
