Microsoft has already confirmed that the end of January will bring us a new Technical Preview build of Windows 10, but only little is known as to what the build number this new release could have when it gets the green light for Windows Insiders.

And yet, BuildFeed indicates that the “awesome” branch, which is expected to provide us with the next Technical Preview build, has reached version 9924, and although it's not yet clear whether this is the one that could be shipped to us in a few days, it's another sign that Microsoft is working to add the final touches to this important release.

Codenamed January Technical Preview, the upcoming version of Windows 10 will include more consumer-oriented features, among which Continuum and Cortana.

At the same event, Microsoft is also expected to disclose more information on its Windows 10 rollout plans, including details regarding Windows Phone 10.

With Windows 10, Microsoft is aiming to bring together all of its platforms, thus trying to offer a seamless experience across devices.

As a quick reminder, only users running Windows 10 build 9879 and 9888 will be able to upgrade to the upcoming January Technical Preview, as build number 9901, which got leaked before Christmas, comes with a bug that does not allow auto upgrades.

New ISOs will also ship with this fresh release, so in case you wish to perform a clean install, you should be able to do that without the need to perform post-installation updates.
