If you like the new Windows 10 operating system, but you don’t want to install pre-release software and struggle with bugs and other issues, the Windows 10 UX Pack is pretty much your only option because it brings the best of the new OS on Windows 7 and 8.1.

Now at version 4.0, Windows 10 UX Pack comes with almost everything included in Windows 10, such as the Start menu, so you’ll almost feel like you’re running the new OS.

And thanks to an update released today, the pack comes with the new system icons included in Windows 10 build 10130 but also with the default wallpaper provided in the preview build and the sound scheme that Microsoft released as part of this version.

The transparency effects offered across the operating system have also been improved, and the changelog also reveals that the “Cortana-like search bar no longer keeps applying regardless of selected option.”

Basically, version 4.0 should get any old version of Windows closer to Windows 10 more than any time before, so if you want to get a taste of the new operating system without actually installing it, just go ahead and download Windows 10 UX Pack right now.

Just remember to create a backup of your Windows installation, just to be on the safe side in case something goes wrong.
