14 DAY TRIAL // File Explorer is one of the Windows 10 features that have received little attention in the last few months, and some of the options that users requested so often, such a tab support, are still missing from the file manager.
But designers across the world use all these suggestions to build their own concepts, and this one seems to be the perfect mix of the requests we’ve heard since the launch of Windows 10 preview.
First and foremost, it has tabs, which allows users to work with more than one location at the same time, without the need to open more windows. It has a hamburger icon to provide easy access to its main features, as well as quick access to the most used places on your PC.
There’s also a redesigned details and preview pane that looks cleaner and more modern, as well as a customizable navigation pane that uses the theme color and thus matches the overall look of the operating system.
Needless to say, some refinements are still needed, but there’s no doubt that this is quite a great idea and Microsoft should really take this concept into consideration if any File Explorer redesign is planned. Windows 10 is projected to debut in late July, so there’s still time for more improvements if the company really wants it.
