The company confirms new goodie for Windows 10

It's not a secret anymore that Windows 10 will come with lots of improvements in terms of features and visual tweaks, but it appears that Microsoft has prepared a few more goodies for its users.

The touch-optimized version of Office that was initially designed to launch by the end of the year will actually debut together with Windows 10, Microsoft announced today without sharing any other details.

More information however will be provided at a later date, Microsoft says, suggesting that the touch-optimized version of its productivity suite is still in the works right now and is likely to see daylight in early 2015.

The company has also rolled out a sneak peek of what was believed to be the touch-optimized version of PowerPoint, but some of the details showing up in the screenshot might make you think otherwise.

The top buttons are just too small to be used on a touch device and the application overall seems to be more of a desktop version of PowerPoint with some improvements for touch-capable devices. It's not yet clear if this is the touch version of Office supposed to be used in the Modern UI, but there's obviously something wrong with the picture.

At this point, it's not yet clear if Office apps shipped with Windows 10 could be free or not, but expect them to ship at no charge on Microsoft devices such as Surface tablets.
