Windows 7 Is Still the Number 1 OS in the World, XP Very Hard to Kill

Microsoft is still struggling to convince users to dump Windows XP

As you probably know by now, Microsoft will officially stop providing support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014, so the company is urging everyone to make the move to a newer operating system as soon as possible.

This isn’t happening, according to some new data released by Net Applications for the month of February, as Windows XP remains the second most popular operating system in the world with a market share of 38.99 percent.

Windows 7 is, obviously, the clear leader on the market with 44.55 percent, while Windows Vista, the biggest flop in Microsoft’s history, is still third with 5.17 percent, but it’s pretty clear that it’s losing ground every month.

Mac OS X 10.8 arrives fifth with 2.61 percent, while the Linux platform reaches the 8th position with a market share of 1.21 percent.
