Windows 7 remains the number one operating system in the world, according to data provided by StatCounter, but what’s more important is that it’s currently installed on more than half of the world’s computers.

The latest figures reveal that Windows 7 had a 52.4 percent online usage on November 26, while Windows XP comes second with 26.5 percent.

Microsoft’s new Windows 8, on the other hand, is still struggling to increase its market share, as it currently holds a share of 1.31 percent worldwide and 1.77 percent in the United States.

Unfortunately for the Redmond-based technology giant, these stats also demonstrate that Windows 8 is indeed taking off slower than Windows 7, as its predecessor reached a market share of 4.93 percent one month after its official debut.
