Microsoft has already confirmed that Windows 8.1 is going to reach RTM sometime this month and according to the latest evidence, we’re only days away from this moment.

A screenshot that reached the web a few minutes ago shows what seems to be Windows 8.1 build 9456 (string 9456.fbl_partner_out27.130703-2335), a pre-RTM build that has reportedly been sent to partners for testing purposes.

While the photo doesn’t show too many details, it does confirm that Microsoft has completed development of its first Windows 8 update, so expect an official announcement in just a few days.

And still, the company is keeping everything secret on general availability, but sources close to the matter suggested that early September might be the right moment for us to get the stable build of Windows 8.1. Until then, take everything with a pinch of salt and consider this an unconfirmed rumor.
