Microsoft is now putting the finishing touches on the RTM version of Windows 8.1, so the final build of the OS update should be here in just a few days.

According to Win8China (translation needed), Microsoft has submitted what seems to be Windows 8.1 build 9477 to select partners for testing purposes, so the official RTM launch is expected to take place in only a few days.

At the same time, sources close to the matter indicate that Windows 8.1 has entered the so-called RTM escrow development stage, which means that Microsoft has completed work on the product and is now working on optimizing the final bits of the OS.

Still no official word on the RTM release, but Microsoft has already confirmed that it plans to unveil it this month. General availability is also expected to be announced very soon.
