Microsoft has recently released Windows 8.1 Preview in an attempt to address some previous Windows 8 complaints and make the operating system a bit more user-friendly.

Judging by the improvements it made to the operating system, Windows 8.1 is a step in the right direction for the software giant, Brad Reback, an analyst for Stifel Nicolaus, was quoted as saying by MarketWatch.

“Microsoft simply decided to refine it [Windows 8] and make it better,” Reback explained.

“We believe management’s decision to listen to its users and make adjustments to the areas in which it saw the biggest criticism will be well received in the marketplace and help with adoption rates going forward.”

Windows 8.1 is indeed an attempt to get closer to users, as the operating system brings back the traditional Start button, as well as some options supposed to make it a more familiar working environment.

The RTM version is expected to be unveiled in August, while general availability is likely to be announced in October.
