Windows 8.1 Preview will officially debut on June 26, so more details are now reaching the web on what's being called the first major overhaul for Windows 8.
A new collection of screenshots that reached the web a few hours ago reveals the new system requirements for Windows 8.1 Preview, an update that “works great on the same hardware that powers Windows 8,” as Microsoft explains.
Windows RT 8.1 Preview requires a Windows RT-capable device that's already running the tablet-oriented operating system and has at least 10 GB of free storage space.
As far as the desktop versions of Windows 8.1 Preview are concerned, here are the official system requirements:
Processor: 1 GHz or faster
RAM: 1 GB for the 32-bit version or 2 GB for the 64-bit version
Free hard disk space: 16 GB for the 32-bit version or 20 GB for the 64-bit version
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
