We’re only a few days away from the public launch of a new Windows version, as the revamped 8.1 edition is set to make its debut on Friday.

Microsoft is yet to unveil any specifics on the launch event, but the OS update is set to show up in the Store on October 17 depending on the timezone.

As you know, Windows 8.1 will be offered free of charge for all adopters of Windows 8, while users of older Windows versions, such as XP, Vista or 7 will need to purchase a full license.

The basic version of Windows 8.1 will be available for $119.99 (€90), while the Pro license will have a price tag of $199.99 (€150). Both will be available online and via Microsoft Stores and authorized resellers.
