Windows 8.1 Update 1 will bring quite a lot of important changes for users of both desktops and tablets, but it turns out that Microsoft has also managed to make the whole pack a lot more light.

As you can see in this screenshot, Windows 8.1 Update 1 takes less than 10 GB of free space on your hard drive with the default configuration.

Of course, Microsoft is also expected to implement a few more changes before the operating system hits the web, but it’s pretty clear that it won’t take more than 10 GB on your hard drive.

For the sake of comparison, Microsoft claims that Windows 8.1 needs at least 16 GB of hard disk space for the 32-bit version and 20 GB for the 64-bit build, so the company most likely focused on ways to make Update 1 a bit lighter.
