Microsoft has prepared another improvement for Metro apps

We already knew that Metro apps would have options to be pinned to the taskbar in Windows 8.1 Update 1, but it turns out that the software giant has actually prepared even more improvements for adopters of its new OS version.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 will display multi-window previews on the taskbar for Metro apps supporting more than just a window, such as the Mail tool.

WinSuperSite has spotted that previews are displayed in a way similar to traditional desktop software solutions, so the integration of Metro apps on the desktop is going to be very smooth once Microsoft completes the mix.

Word is that Redmond is working on more changes for Windows 9 that would allow users to run Metro apps right on the desktop and without getting to the Start screen, which would clearly come in handy to PC users still relying on a mouse and keyboard.

Windows 8.1 Update 1, on the other hand, would only come with options to pin these Metro apps to the taskbar, but also with title bars that would basically enable users to close them with a mouse click. Windows 8.1 Update 1 is expected to debut in early April for MSDN subscribers and on April 8 for all users who have already deployed Windows 8.1.
