The Windows 8.1 Start screen will come with quite a wide array of customization options, but it appears that Microsoft has also increased the number of live tiles rows.

As noted by WinBeta, the Start screen could accommodate up to 9 different rows of live tiles, most likely to give users the power to easily manage the installed Metro apps.

The feature was spotted during the company’s demo at TechEd, but it’s not yet clear if Microsoft plans to bring it in all versions of the upcoming operating system or only in the enterprise flavor.

In addition to this particular improvement, the Start screen will also get more color customization options, as well as so-called tattoos that remind of the famous Dreamscenes tool implemented in Windows Vista and unavailable in Windows 8.
