Windows 8 Essentials is one of the apps that could appeal to a large number of users especially because it comes with a great mix of a straightforward interface and helpful features.

The application packs several utilities, including a calendar, to-do lists, notes and a calculator, all of which can be accessed from the same screen, without leaving the Metro UI.

While the purpose of these utilities is pretty obvious, there’s one major drawback: Windows 8 Essentials is not available for free, but with a $1.49 (€1.25) price tag.

On the other hand, it works perfectly on all Windows 8 builds and, thanks to the fact that it’s fully optimized for the touch, it can be used on Windows RT tablets as well.
