Xbox 720 is going to be “more Windows 8-like,” says former Microsoft employee

Joachim Kempin, a former Microsoft executive, said in an interview that Windows 8, the newly released operating system belonging to the Redmond-based technology titan, was very likely to inspire the upcoming Xbox 720, but he refused to provide more details on how exactly this was going to happen.

Kempin told IGN that Xbox 720 was very likely to get a touchscreen too, and this may somehow make sense, given the fact that Windows 8 is specifically aimed at touchscreen devices.

“I think the other thing they will try. There’s no doubt about it, is it’s going to be more Windows 8-like; maybe it even gets a touchscreen, who knows? Most of what’s in there today really is Windows, right? I wouldn’t be surprised if the next round of interface comes even closer to Windows 8 than it is today,” he was quoted as saying.

Of course, Microsoft is keeping everything secret when it comes to the new gaming console, so it remains to be seen whether Windows 8 will be used for the development of Xbox 720 or not.
