The number of apps in the store is increasing

Microsoft worked really hard to convince more developers to create apps for its modern platform Windows 8, and two years after the launch of the OS, its efforts are finally paying off.

The number of apps in the Windows Store has reached the 175,000 item milestone today, indicating that more developers have spotted the potential of the OS and plan to expand their offering with Metro ports specifically built for desktops and tablets.

While some could say that this happened way too late, it’s still a good thing that more developers embrace Windows 8, especially because Windows 10, which is the next version of the operating system prepared by Microsoft, would inherit the store for PCs, tablets, and laptops.

The main issue, however, remains the amount of spam in the store, which Microsoft has promised to tackle in a much more effective manner, especially after many users fell victims to various scams.

Several thousand clone and scam apps have been removed in the last few months as part of a store-wide cleaning process, but suspicious items continue to show up every once in a while.

On the good side, Microsoft is really keeping an eye on consumer feedback these days, so make sure that you report scam apps to the company as soon as you find them. The company has promised to take all complaints seriously, so the store should soon become a much safer Windows feature.
