Windows 8 continues to grow, that’s for sure, but the way it does it is probably fairly disappointing for everyone working for Microsoft.

The operating system has barely increased its market share in the first 15 days of this month, according to figures provided by market researcher StatCounter, and is now fourth in the overall rankings.

Windows 8 currently has a market share of 6.5 percent, still behind Mac OS X with 7.39 percent and Windows XP with 20.56 percent.

Windows 7 remains the clear leader of the standings with 52.45 percent, while Vista has dropped to 5.23 percent. Of course, both XP and Vista are expected to lose users in the coming months, as Microsoft is now struggling to move all its users to either Windows 7 or 8.
