New rumor points to the final designation of the Blue project

Microsoft will most likely launch the first Windows 8 upgrade sometime this summer but, while the company confirmed the project, it also mentioned that Blue is only an internal codename.

There’s no information regarding the final name of the project for the time being but, according to a new leaked screenshot, Microsoft could call it Windows 8.1.

As you can see in this photo published on Winforum.eu and spotted by WinBeta.org, Windows 8.1 build 9375 is reportedly under development right now, even though it’s not yet clear whether this is the final designation or not.

While we must keep in mind that this screenshot reached the web on April Fools’ Day, so it might very well be fake, it could also make sense for the Redmond-based software giant, as it’s only looking to release a Windows 8 upgrade and not a standalone operating system.

On the other hand, if Microsoft calls this release Windows 8.1, it might be a sign that future upgrades could follow in the next years, despite the release of Windows 9 in 2014.
