BiniSoft has just updated Windows Firewall Control to version 3.7. This is a major build and includes new features and improvements.

Windows Firewall Control 3.7 sports a new audio notification option in the configuration panel, which can sound the alarm when a new alert is available. According to the developer, this is particularly useful for the apps in the modern UI in Windows 8, because notifications are displayed on the desktop.

A big change is the redesigned user interface. It now uses the standard chrome instead of the skinned one, on account that all the visual effects used too much CPU and memory, which would make the application a resource hog on older systems.

Improvements address scrolling in Manage Rules screen, which should be smoother in this revision. On the same note, RAM usage has been optimized and should now drop by 30%.
