Microsoft continues the transition to a devices and services company, but Windows remains the key product despite the focus on tablets, cloud services, and several other products.

Analysts, on the other hand, explain that Windows is still facing strong headwinds despite all company efforts, and this can’t be ignored anymore by the current leadership.

“Although we think Microsoft’s software-business and enterprise-story is robust and worth ~$33-$34/share, we believe the Windows headwinds are more substantial than we envisioned a few months ago,” analyst Brad Reback wrote according to MarketWatch.

Microsoft, on the other hand, continues to bet big on Windows, so the company will soon launch the first Windows 8 update based on customer feedback.

The Start button will be brought back in Windows 8.1, while the OS will also include several top requests, including an option to boot directly to desktop and skip the Start screen.
