A new version of the app is now offered to users

Glance Screen is the Windows Phone feature that we, Lumia 930 owners, drool over, so every time it receives a new update, the envy for other Lumia users is getting bigger and bigger.

Today, for example, Microsoft started shipping a new version of the app, obviously to devices that actually support it, thus adding better functionality to a feature that should have been available on all flagships in the Lumia lineup.

Starting with this new version, Glance Screen also supports backgrounds, so users can set the lock screen photo as their backgrounds.

The question that many of you are probably asking is related to battery impact, but Microsoft says that no difference should be spotted.

Obviously, keeping battery consumption as low as possible is really a priority for Glance Screen users, especially for those who keep this feature always on, so updates that could have a dramatic impact on this feature aren't really good news for Lumia owners.

As a quick overview, Glance Screen is an option that displays the time, lock screen content, and notifications when you phone is in stand-by, without affecting battery in any significant way.

The application also includes a night mode that automatically dims out colors, and with the help of Cortana, it automatically silents notifications to make sure that nobody bothers you while sleeping.
