Moving users from Windows XP is becoming more of a priority for Microsoft as we get closer to the official retirement date, so the company continues to urge everyone to embrace Windows 7 or Windows 8.

This time, Chris Hallum, a Microsoft senior product manager, told TechRadar in a statement that Windows 8 is the most secure Windows operating system to date, while also revealing some very interesting statistics.

Windows 7 is six times more likely to get infected than Windows 8, he explained pointing to the numerous security enhancements made in the latest operating system. As far as Windows XP is concerned, figures are even more worrying.

A Windows XP computer is 21 times more likely to be exploited by hackers, especially due to vulnerabilities found in apps running on that platform, Hallum concluded, emphasizing that moving to a newer OS should be a priority for each of you.
