Moving all users to Windows 7 or Windows 8 will be fairly difficult

Microsoft has already announced that Windows XP support would no longer be provided as of April 8, 2014, but many users are showing no intention to make a switch for the time being.

Windows XP is currently running on nearly 500,000 computers in New Zealand right now, according to figures provided by Scoop, as it remains the second most popular operating system in the country.

Of course, Microsoft warns all those who delay the migration from Windows XP that such a decision pretty much makes their computers open to hackers, so deploying a newer version of Windows is basically the only way to go.

“XP is three generations behind Microsoft’s most modern operating system so continuing to use PCs with XP is similar to driving a car without a seat belt or a motorbike without a helmet. The risks are real and the only way businesses and consumers can protect themselves is to upgrade,” Managing Director of Microsoft New Zealand, Paul Muckleston, said in a statement.
