New design, dark theme, and Cortana support

AccuWeather is currently one of the best weather apps on the majority of mobile platforms, but at the same time, it’s also one of the first to arrive on Windows 10 as a universal app.

Today, the app received an important update on Windows 10 that brings big changes on PCs and smartphones, including a new dark theme that brings it in line with some of the apps developed by Microsoft itself.

But with this update, AccuWeather offers a new interface that, according to the developing team, is based on “Microsoft’s recommended grid design principles and has more clean lines, colors, and modern icons, making the digital experience more appealing, intuitive, and easier to read than ever before.”

And to be honest, AccuWeather does look very well, but the settings screen still needs some refinements, as the fonts used here are very small for large screens, such as the Lumia 950 XL.

The same update also comes with Cortana integration, so you can now say “Hey Cortana, what’s my AccuWeather forecast?” and the personal assistant should show current temperature and weather for the next few days from the app.

And last but not least, there’s a new lock screen slide show that’s available only on PCs and tablets, as well as performance enhancements and bug fixes introduced on all Windows 10 devices (including smartphones).
