Avast released the stable build for version 8 of their line of products. As expected, the list of modifications since the previous revision comprises mostly repairs.

The developer announced that new graphics have been placed and that the issue with the GUI disappearing has been solved and installing the firewall on Windows 8 should work fine now.

Further repairs touch on compatibility with Chrome 25, although some users are still complaining about some problems and the developer is well aware.

Additional problems that should no longer be cause for concern are DHCP-related and prevented the machine from getting an IP address. Also, the plugin for Internet Explorer should no longer hang.

The new line of products from Avast expanded this year with a new product called avast! Premier. It includes a set of new features, such as a data shredding tool that can be used for secure deleting files, partitions and entire drives.

On the same note, it comes with remote connection capabilities (through AccessAnywhere) to other PCs protected by avast! antivirus (Free included).

Avast products are available for download on this page.

[Update, 02.28.2013, later]: Avast updated their products again, to build 8.0.1482, and this looks like the final revision for avast!8.
