The United Kingdom is one of the countries getting the Surface Laptop, and the device is already up for pre-order here, though there’s something that you’re not going to like.

The price of the Surface Laptop is shocking to say the least, as Britons will have to pay substantially more than those in the United States, no matter what configuration they’re going to choose.

Judging from US prices, where the Surface Laptop starts at $999, customers in the United Kingdom would have to pay approximately £775 for the entry-level model, but this is not at all the case. Instead, Microsoft is selling the most affordable Surface Laptop for no less than £979, which, according to today’s currency rates, means that buyers would have to pay around $1260.

Things get worse when it comes to the top-of-the-range configuration with an Intel Core i7 processor, 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM. Pricing in the United Kingdom is £2,149, which in dollars means $2770, way more than the $2,199 price tag that Americans would need to pay.

On the other hand, Microsoft is also offering some price cuts for students, faculty or staff at universities and colleges, but everyone else has to buy the Surface Laptop at the full price.

For what it’s worth, these models do not include a Surface Pen, but only the keyboard, so you’ll have to pay extra for that too.
