Microsoft used the Windows 10 devices event in New York to introduce the new Continuum adapter that will allow the new Lumia models and other high-end phones to become a fully-featured PC running the company's new operating system.

In a demo today, Microsoft presented the main capabilities of Continuum, showing that with a simple adapter, the phone can turn into a PC because the device's Start screen is mirrored on a monitor, TV or projector.

The adapter features a Microsoft Display Dock, an HDMI and Display Port, plus 3 USB ports to provide productivity on the go and let you plug in additional peripherals, such as mice and keyboards. Other accessories can be connected too, Microsoft said.

Panos Panay, the man in charge with the devices unit at Microsoft, reiterated that Continuum helps put Windows in your pocket, which seems to be the company's latest plan this year after bringing the operating system on PCs, tablets and smartphones

There are no details on when the Continuum adapter will ship, but it will become available with the new Lumias later this month. Pricing information hasn't been disclosed, but it should cost somewhere around $100, if the recently revealed rumors prove to be true.
