Can’t see the update? Here’s how to get it

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB4016635 for Anniversary Update systems a few hours ago, but for some reason, it looks like some PCs aren’t getting it via Windows Update, while others receive it normally just like any other update.

Fortunately, there’s an alternative way to download the cumulative update and truth be told, it can help you avoid any potential installation or post-install issues that typically arise with this kind of updates.

Microsoft has already published the update in the Update Catalog so you can get it either from the company or using the download links at the end of the article (which are also linking to Microsoft’s servers).

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4016635 comes in a 569MB package for x86 versions of the operating system and 1062MB for the x64 flavor and Windows Server 2016.

There are no delta updates available this time, so you need to download the full MSU file to get this cumulative update installed on your system.

While it’s not yet clear why some users are seeing this update and others don’t, it’s important to note that KB4016635 is here to address issues experienced after Patch Tuesday, so if this is your case too, you'd better download it as soon as possible. We’re not aware of any install issues until now, but we’ll keep an eye out on reports and let you know if anything comes up.
