The newly-released Windows 10 Creators Update comes with support for Dolby Atmos audio, and today, the official companion application made it to the Windows Store with a few surprises.

Developed to help you make the most of your Dolby Atmos hardware, the application also includes headphone support, so it can enhance the sound experience for more devices beyond sound bars and home theaters.

Called Dolby Access, the app comes with a wizard that guides users throughout the configuration process, so setting it up on a Windows 10 Creators Update computer is just a matter of pressing next and choosing the right options.

On the other hand, there’s something that you’re not going to like. Though the application is available with a free license, users can enjoy support for headphones for just one day, after which they are required to pay $15 to unlock full functionality. Without a doubt, the 1-day trial is painfully short for most users, though it should help them determine whether it’s worth purchasing the app or not.

“Set up, try, and experience Dolby Atmos, a breakthrough sound technology that pulls you inside the action with immersive, moving audio for your games and movies,” Dolby promises in the official description of the app. Although it is available in the Windows Store, only PCs are supported for now and there are no plans for making the app universal for the time being.
