The stable build for foobar2000 1.1.16 has been rolled out over the weekend. The changelog remains unmodified compared to the previous beta release.

As such, the notes for the current stable revision include compatibility improvements for ID3v2 tagging. These refer to non-compliant ID3v2.3 TYER allowed by default and the possibility to write “rating” as TXXX, although the request came from a very small amount of users.

FLAC-related changes consist in faster tag updates for this format when full file rewrite is necessary and in sanitizing tag updating behavior in low-memory conditions.

Overall stability has been improved in Foobar2000 1.1.16 as the developer addressed an issue with extreme memory usage when scanning a large group of tracks as a single album.

Furthermore, it performs better when it comes to art loading with large libraries and complicated lookup patterns.
