The latest stable build for foobar2000 has been released today and the developer announced that the player now relies on a newest version of the library of encoders and decoders for FLAC format, libFLAC 1.3.0.

Also replaced is the “Downmix 5.1 to stereo” DSP component with the new “Downmix channels to stereo” DSP; the latter is capable to downmix various channel configurations.

The improvements available in Foobar2000 1.2.7 refer to handling of different malformed AIFF file cases. Also, WavPack items that have malformed channel mask info can now be played.

The developer also included a bug fix, which refers to the tag writer for WAV audio, which could create files of odd byte count that are not according to the standard.

foobar2000 is available for download from this link; during installation you can choose to make it portable.
