Today, the first beta for foobar2000 1.2 has been released. It now uses ffmpeg for decoding multiple audio formats, which include MP3, AAC and Vorbis.

The fresh build sports support for streaming to arbitrary UPnP MediaRenderer devices through the new UPnP output component; it comes as a separate download only for this version.

Also new is the “Quick Convert” dialog, especially designed for fast jobs that do not require any advanced features. The developer adds menu commands to switch between playback output devices.

Foobar2000 1.2 brings to the table extended playback thread priority options under the Advanced section of the configuration panel.

The Equalizer component available in the program is now an open-source part, separate from the standard DSP array.

foobar2000 is available for download from this link; during installation you can choose it to be portable.
