New app update now available for the Band wearable

Rumor has it that Microsoft is planning to discontinue the Band smart wristband completely, even though the third generation was expected in a few weeks, and while the company hasn’t said a single thing about these rumors, it continues improving the existing models.

Today, for instance, the Microsoft Band finally got a working live tile with an app update delivered through the store. The new version of the Band app is 2.3.20923, and although no changelog is available just yet, there are reports that the live tile is finally working just like it should.

The broken live tile has been around for a while, so it’s a little surprising to see the company fixing it now when so many people are pointing to the demise of the Band wearable.

The Band 3 was originally expected to debut in October, alongside other new Microsoft products, including the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5, but sources with knowledge of the matter said the company pushed back the release of all products to spring 2017.

Next month, however, Microsoft is expected to unveil just one product, namely a Surface all-in-one PC that could help the company expand its offering in the hardware industry. As far as the Band is concerned, nobody can tell for sure if it survives or not, but expect more info in the coming months.
