Microsoft has just rolled out an updated version of the Skype client for Windows desktop, and although the company hasn’t provided release notes, it’s believed this build comes to fix a bug that caused messages to appear out of order.

In late December, Microsoft decided to pull Skype version 7.17.0.105 and recommended users to download the previous release, as it discovered that, due to a bug, messages in the conversation window were displayed in incorrect order.

“This is unfortunately a known problem for some users of Skype for Windows with the very latest version 7.17.0.105 - As a temporary workaround while we are working on an updated version with a fix please download and install the previous version,” the company said.

Surprisingly, this new version is numbered 7.17.32.106, so it is an important bump, which could be a sign that some other improvements are also included. Most likely, performance enhancements and other optimizations are part of the package as well.

For the moment, Microsoft hasn’t said a single thing about this new version, but we’ve reached out to the company to hear more about it and find out whether it indeed fixes the aforementioned bug or not.

In the meantime, Windows users are recommended to download Skype and always stay up to date to avoid any bugs that might exist in older versions.
