New version available in the store for Windows 10 users

Microsoft has released a new update for the official OneDrive app for iOS, so iPhone and iPad users can get it from the store right away, but the company has rolled out more improvements for the Windows 10 universal app as well.

Just like on iOS, the Windows 10 OneDrive app allows users to access Microsoft’s cloud-based storage service, but since it’s universal, it comes with the same look and features on both PCs and smartphones.

Microsoft hasn’t provided a change log for this new version, but it’s most likely focused on bug fixes and performance improvements, so all Windows 10 users are recommended to get it as fast as possible.

The OneDrive universal app is quite new on Windows 10, and Microsoft provides it as a complementary solution to the desktop version that already offers synchronization features to users on the new operating system. One of the options that are still missing, however, is support for placeholders, which allowed users to browse cloud content without actually downloading it.

What’s important to know, however, is that the OneDrive universal app for Windows 10 works only on build 10586.318 and newer, so if you’re still on the original RTM build released in July 2015, you won’t be able to install it unless you upgrade to the November Update (version 1511) and the more recent builds.
