It's a maintenance release, offers direct integration for more hotfixes

nLite was a huge hit back in the days of Windows XP as it allowed users to create a custom installation of Microsoft’s OS, stripped of any components deemed unnecessary by an individual.

The current update to build 1.4.9.2 does not kick the application back in the game but keeps it stuck in the same time as before. It is just a maintenance release as the developer decided to return to the project and support it actively.

The new nLite includes deeper file version inspection during integration comparison and direct integration support for many more hotfixes, mainly for Windows XP.

If you’re still using the soon-to-be-abandoned OS, nLite should be able to integrate Internet Explorer 8 as the developer solved a problem that hindered this operation.

Although the developer decided to get back in the saddle with nLite project, there is no word on whether it will expand support to more recent operating systems or if a new release for this purpose is on the way.

At the moment, nLite (free) is compatible with Windows 2000, XP x86/x64 and 2003 x86/x64.
