14 DAY TRIAL // Blizzard has recently rolled out a patch for its super-old-yet-still-awesome game Warcraft III, adding support for newer Microsoft operating systems, including Windows 10.
Although we’re pretty sure only few people saw this coming, it’s not a secret that there still are a lot of gamers who want to play Warcraft III, and since many of them are upgrading to newer Windows versions, including Windows 10, doing it was quite a challenge.
Compatibility modes integrated into Windows aren’t always the best, and this is one of the reasons Blizzard specifically added support for Windows 10 in the game launched in July 2002.
Patch 1.27a is the one that makes it possible to play Warcraft III on newer versions of Windows, as it includes improved compatibility with Windows 7, 8, and 10. At the same time, it also bringing a new installer to support Mac OS X 10.10 and 10.11, thus making it possible to play the game on newer Macs too. Warcraft III was launched nearly 14 years ago, so it’s almost as old as Windows XP, but both of them continue to be quite popular these days. In Warcraft’s case, however, the company that built it hasn’t abandoned the project, so updates are still being provided regularly.
