Stats show that more people use IE these days

Microsoft Edge is the new browser that Redmond will introduce in Windows 10, and hopefully, it can be a better rival to Firefox and Chrome, both of which are said to be the leading browsers for PC users across the world.

But Net Applications says that Internet Explorer is actually the dominant browser right now, and what’s more, its market share is on the rise, with version 11 currently being used by no less than 27.22 percent of the PC owners across the world.

These figures might be a little bit surprising, especially because IE11 is available in Windows 7 and 8.1, both of which will get the free upgrade to Windows 10, but the upgrade is not in any way conditioned by Internet Explorer, so why should someone start using this browser all of a sudden just before its demise?

Chrome 43 is the second browser in these charts with a share of 17.55 percent, followed by Internet Explorer 8.0 with 13.58 percent. Firefox 38 is next with 9.03 percent and Internet Explorer 9 is not far behind with 6.76 percent.

Internet Explorer will continue to be offered in Windows 10, but only as a backup option, just in case you come across some websites that do not load correctly in Microsoft Edge. IE, however, will no longer receive feature updates, but only security patches to make sure its users are fully protected.
